This Summer, two interns from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) Medical Laboratory Technologist program spent part of their summer break at CMPT.
Myron Xie and Yun-kun Li spent 3.5 and 1.5 months at CMPT lab learning about quality and External Quality Assurance (EQA) while gaining experience with the wet lab.
This marked the first time BCIT and CMPT collaborated in this way and it was a great success. Both Myron and Yun-kun supported daily activities, participated in research projects, and are collaborating in the writing of a manuscript.
This type of collaboration strengthens both programs and provide students with real life job experience to give them confidence and guidance towards what they want to do with their careers.
We look forward to working with more interns in the next year and to establish CMPT and BCIT as collaborative partners.
