MAIN EDUCATIONAL POINTS from MY2104-1
- Correct and prompt identification of pathogenic fungi, causing systemic infections and candidemia, plays an important role in the application of suitable therapy.
- Among non-albicans Candida species, C. tropicalis, C. glabrata and C. parapsilosis are the three most important species that cause candidemia and account for around 40% of episodes. C. glabrata has emerged as the most common non-albicans Candida in North America.
