HISTORY

A simulated midstream urine collected from 5 year old female was sent to category A laboratories. Participants were expected to isolate, identify, and perform susceptibility testing of Citrobacter freundii.

MAIN EDUCATIONAL POINTS from M212-1

  1. Urinary tract infections are common in children of all ages, especially infants and young children.
  2. The most common pathogen in children is Escherichia coli.
