HISTORY

A simulated wound collected from 63 male with leg wound was sent to category A and B laboratories.
Participants were expected to report Staphylococcus pseudintermedius and perform susceptibility testing.

MAIN EDUCATIONAL POINTS from M181-2

  1. Staphylococcus pseudintermedius is a recently identified coagulase-positive Staphylococcus species and is an important pathogen of zoonotic origin
  2. Methicillin resistance is rapidly emerging in S. pseudintermedius.
