Throat: no group A, C, G nor Arcanobacterium haemolyticum – Shipped November 02, 2020

HISTORY

A simulated throat sample collected from 18 year old with pharyngitis was sent to category A laboratories. Participants were expected to report the sample as negative for group A, C or G Streptococcus, and Arcanobacterium haemolyticum.

MAIN EDUCATIONAL POINTS from M203-1

  1. Negative reports from throat swab should always be pathogen specific (i.e. No Group A, C or G streptococci or Arcanobacterium haemolyticum isolated).
