Stool: Campylobacter jejuni – Shipped May 13, 2019 –

HISTORY

A simulated stool sample collected from 35 year old lumberjack with diarrhea was sent to category A laboratories.

Participants were expected to report Campylobacter jejuni  and report the isolate to Public Health.

MAIN EDUCATIONAL POINTS from M191-3

  1. Campylobacter is one of the most common bacterial enteric pathogens in Canada.
  2. Public Health authorities should be notified of cases of campylobacteriosis (where pathogenic Campylobacter spp. are isolated).
