MAIN EDUCATIONAL POINTS from M171-1
- The current CLSI guidelines (M100-S27, 2017) recommend using higher breakpoints for cefazolin (Susceptible as ≤ 16 instead of ≤ 2) for therapy of uncomplicated urinary tract infections due to E. coli, K. pneumoniae and P. mirabilis.
- The cefazolin results are used to predict results for oral cephem agents including cephalexin.
