MAIN EDUCATIONAL POINTS from 1309-4
- Mycological culture is very important for the identification of the fungal agent. In direct preparations Alternaria infectoria hyphae usually appear hyaline after as they are poorly melanised.
- Alternaria infection in humans often follows percutaneous injury during contact with plants and soil and manifests as cutaneous or subcutaneous lesions.
